This Tagalog song from the Philippines was released in 1978. The song was a reflection of the son's sadness about not fulfilling his parent wish. It was about his father who wish him to be a lawyer rather than a musician. Freddie left school at age eighteen to pursue his career in music. However, they both reconciled after Freddie had been successful with his song.


During its pinnacle, the song was translated into twenty-seven different languages and was released to fifty-six countries with an estimated distribution of thirty million copies.


The song was also made as the themed song of a famous Korean movie in 2015 titled "Gangnam Blues". starred by Lee Min Ho and Kim Rae Won. The story was about two orphans and homeless boys who grew up together in the middle of the city. They promised to keep each other brotherhood until their end, However, faith took them on the wrong way when they were recruited and led their groups. Their friendship was tested when they cross paths to the need for survival in their lives.
